Windmills as another iconic symbol of the Netherlands, are sparsely located everywhere in the country. To get an immersive experience of windmills, Zaanse Schans is one of the two places you shall visit (another one is Kinderdijk).
What to do
The village is not too big, so everything is walking distance. Just walk around all the windmills and take some nice photos.
How to get there
Zaanse Schans is located in the north of Amsterdam. There are buses and trains running from Amsterdam Central station. Going by car is the most efficient way since you don’t have to wait for the unpredictable train or bus service here. Parking in Zaanse Schans is 10 euro for one time cost(one-day ticket), no matter how long do you want to stay.
Oops, there’s no delicacy here. Feel free to bring a piece of bread or pastry if you want, or simply buy a overpriced croissant in the shop here.
